Happy Thanksgiving! There Was a Lot to Be Thankful For this Year.

A Year of Gratitude and Growth.

As we approach the end of another year, it’s a good time to pause, reflect, and give thanks for the progress we’ve made. For me, this year has been one of gratitude and growth, and I’m thankful for the many positive changes and opportunities that have come my way. From career achievements to personal health milestones, and even a new furry friend, 2024 has shaped up to be a year full of growth and fulfillment.

Career – Rising Up

Career-wise, this has been a milestone year. After years of hard work and dedication, I finally received the promotion I’ve been aiming for. As a business manager, I’ve been able to not only advance in my role but also get closer to achieving some of my financial goals. There’s still a bit of the paycheck-to-paycheck grind to navigate, but for the first time, I have a bit of financial cushion. I’m even able to take some time off, which, after years of pushing forward, feels like a luxury.

The promotion has also allowed me to continue refining the skills I’ve spent my whole career building—both project management and people management. There’s always room for improvement, but I feel like I’m growing stronger in these areas each day. With the new year ahead, I’m optimistic about what’s next and excited about the possibilities for further growth.

Health – Staying Strong

At 53, I’m proud to say that my health is still in great shape. I’m fortunate enough to maintain the same weight I had in high school, and I’m still able to keep up with my early morning routines. Of course, there’s a little creaking in the bones these days, but overall, I can’t complain. I have the energy to keep chasing my goals, which is what matters most. While others my age may be thinking about slowing down or retiring, I’m more focused on what’s next in my life’s journey. Health isn’t just about the physical—it’s about having the energy and vitality to pursue what brings joy and purpose.

New Beginnings – Ginger

One of the unexpected joys of the year has been the arrival of Ginger, my new cat. After the loss of Frisky in April 2023, I didn’t realize just how much having a pet truly impacts your life. Ginger has brought a comforting presence into my home, and I’ve learned that having a cat means you always have someone waiting for you when you return. Without her, my apartment felt like nothing more than a place to sleep. Now, it feels like home again.

Relationships – Patience and Hope

I’m still on the lookout for that special someone to share life with, though I’m not actively searching. Instead, I’m open to the possibility of meeting someone when the time is right. Life is better when shared with a partner, and I do hope that as things continue to improve, I’ll find a team player to build a future with. But, for now, I’m content with focusing on my own growth and letting things unfold naturally.

Intellectual Growth – 12 Books, 10 Down

This year, I set myself the goal of reading 12 books. I’m proud to say I’ve already finished 10, and there’s no doubt I’ll hit the mark before the year is out. Reading is a simple pleasure that keeps my mind sharp and helps me grow intellectually. I’ve enjoyed diving into new topics, learning from different perspectives, and expanding my knowledge. It’s something I’ll continue to prioritize, even if it’s just one book at a time.

Physical Well-being – Small Adjustments, Big Impact

Like most people, I’ve had my share of health challenges this year. But with some minor adjustments to my diet, a regular physical therapy routine, and a simple morning stretch routine, I’ve managed to keep my physical health in check. Staying hydrated has also made a noticeable difference. My body may not be as spry as it once was, but I’m doing what I can to keep it moving and feeling good. Health isn’t just about avoiding illness—it’s about setting yourself up for long-term vitality.

Social Life – Quality Over Quantity

When it comes to socializing, I’ve found that I enjoy my own company more than I expected. I’ve always been a bit of an introvert, but after a year of feeling like people were a bit “off” with the election and all, I’m hopeful that we’ll see a return to a more normal, peaceful dynamic. I think this will open up opportunities for deeper connections and more meaningful interactions with others. I’m not in a rush, but I look forward to seeing where this part of my life goes.

Avocational Pursuits – A New Project

One of my long time hobbies has been web design. I’ve always been interested in technology and design, so I decided to create this blog—a project that I can manage and grow over time. It’s been a fun challenge, and I’m excited to see where it takes me. I’m using this space not just to share my thoughts, but also to continue learning and developing new skills. Who knows where it will lead, but it’s something I’ll keep working on in the coming year.

Financial Stability – A Welcome Change

Finally, let’s talk about finances. After years of struggling to make ends meet, 2024 has marked a real turning point. I’m now financially stable, which is a feeling I’ve never truly experienced before. It’s not about bragging—it’s about peace of mind. I’m finally in a place where I can think about the future with less stress and more confidence. Stability in this area has allowed me to focus more on my personal goals and less on survival.

Moving Forward

As I look ahead to the new year, I’m filled with gratitude for the progress I’ve made. It’s not always been easy, but it’s been worth it. I’ve learned a lot about myself, and I’m excited for what’s to come. There are always areas to improve, but for now, I’m content with the direction things are heading. Whether it’s continuing to nurture my health, pursue new learning opportunities, or take on new projects, I’m eager to see what the next chapter holds.

Here’s to another year of growth, learning, and gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving!

Feel free to share your thoughts or any goals you’ve set for yourself in the new year. Let’s keep growing together!
