The sheer silliness you are about to watch is part one in a trilogy of short videos, collectively known as Social Wisdom. Part two, Win Friends With Guitaring Hero, will be online next week, with part three, Dance Your Way To Success, following a week after that.
A Browse Through The Facebook is your guide to amassing friends and admirers within that indigo-hued temple of narcissism, Facebook. This video was born from my scribblings and nurtured like a little baby possum by the hugely creative people listed below. It stars my very suave friend, Morgan Derera. I hope you enjoy it.
Credits
Presented by Morgan Derera
Written by Ella Morton and Paul Ayre
(with much LOL-worthy input from Jeremy Brull and Morgan Derera)
Produced and directed by Ella Morton
Shot by Dave Field
Edited by Emma McKenna
Opening animation by Jayce White
Some behind-the-scenes trivia:
- The budget for this video was $30, which we used to buy a pipe on the way to the shoot. This shopping expedition took longer than it should have, because Morgan insisted on stopping at the pet shop to fawn over the puppies.
- You would not believe how heavy the Buddha head behind Morgan was. Seriously, it was about 15 kilos.
- Jayce, our animator, created the emoticons for Yahoo! Messenger. He also made the Cronulla riots short film that won Best Comedy at Tropfest 2007.
- The “pre-emptive de-friendestration” is inspired by real events. I think I’m over it now. Making this video helped.

Nice one Ella. I was saddened when you left the Digital Life podcast, but this kinda makes up for it. Can we have some more please…?
Hi Tim! Digital Life was really fun, and I definitely miss doing radio. I’d consider adding a podcast to this blog in future if it seems like there’s enough to talk about.
I’m in front of the camera for the next two videos, which are similarly silly and 50s-style.
